If you are a fan of Simon Pegg, then this movie is another must see. He and trusty BFF, Nick Frost created another movie that will leave your sides aching from the laughter. At first, I thought I misunderstood what the movie was about because there was so much time spent building the character’s back stories instead of going right into the sci-fi action, which so many movies do these days. The script was well written, full of hilarious lines perfect for meme making! And might I add, Martin Freeman is so funny in this movie.
The general gist of the story is that six friends do a massive pub crawl, going to 12 pubs in their hometown when they are young. Sadly, they don’t make it to the last pub and life moves on. Gary King (Simon Pegg) did not accept that and continued to live in the past while everyone else moved on with their lives and became successful adults. Gary decides to get the old gang back together to complete the pub crawl and make it to The World’s End pub. They meet some insane obstacles along the way and suddenly reaching the pub is more important than just a pint, which by the way I was seriously wanting by the end of the movie.
What I love about Simon Pegg movies is how carefully thought out and well written everything is, even if it’s a crazy movie like this one. There were 12 pubs and each one in it’s own way, represents what is going on in the movie and the overall plot.
Tonight, we will be partaking in a liquid repast- as we wind our way up the golden mile. Commencing with an inaugural tankard in the First Post, then onto the Old Familiar, the Good Companion, the Trusty Servant, the Two-headed Dog, the Mermaid, the Beehive, the King’s Head, and the Hole in the Wall for a measure of the same. All before the last bittersweet pint in that most fateful- the Worlds End.
Without giving away the everything, I will tell you this journey to The World’s End has multiple meanings and is hilarious. Thanks to them, we get quotes like:
“What the fuck does WTF mean?”
Make time to watch this movie. You won’t regret it!
