100K. YA Fantasy
When seventeen-year-old Sloane finds herself trapped in 1863 Virginia during the Civil War, she must choose between the life she knows and the soldier who has her heart.
When Sloane Page’s elite gifted school is picked to pilot a government program allowing students to time travel as a part of their senior project, she’s hurled over two-hundred-fifty years into the past. Using an enhanced emerald brooch, Sloane winds up at Lacy House in 1863 Northern Virginia, a makeshift hospital for Union soldiers during The Civil War. There, she saves a young soldier, Henry Johnson, from an otherwise fatal injury.
Sloane returns repeatedly to fulfill her project requirements, and develops feelings for Henry in the process—a fact her boyfriend back home wouldn’t like. It’s not long before her loud mouth and progressive opinions attract dangerous attention from the soldiers, and an ambush leaves her stripped of her brooch, trapped in the past.
As the winter thaws into spring and the Union and Confederates prepare to resume fighting, a way back to her time presents itself. Sloane must choose between the life she knows and the soldier who has her heart. One choice leads to college. The other will rewrite history.
